Description

Allocabo is a German online booking platform that helps businesses find and reserve conference rooms, event spaces, and related hospitality services. Similar to a marketplace for business venues, the platform allows users to search for locations, book conference facilities, and arrange additional services such as hotel accommodation.

The platform was built on a legacy Symfony and PHP stack and required infrastructure modernization to improve scalability, maintainability, and deployment efficiency.

Challenge

The client needed to migrate the existing platform from traditional server infrastructure to Microsoft Azure while maintaining application stability and improving the overall technology foundation.

The main challenge was modernizing a legacy application environment built on outdated PHP and Symfony versions that were not compatible with the new cloud infrastructure. The project required upgrading the Symfony framework, updating PHP versions, and refactoring existing code to ensure compatibility with modern technologies. Additionally, we needed to improve deployment workflows across development and production environments, address existing functionality issues identified during modernization, and ensure a smooth transition with minimal impact on platform availability.

Solution

We modernized the existing Symfony application and prepared the platform for migration to a scalable cloud-based infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.

The project involved upgrading the Symfony framework and PHP version, refactoring legacy code, and improving the application's overall architecture to ensure compatibility with modern technologies. We also implemented automated deployment pipelines for development and production environments, optimized release workflows, and improved existing application functionality, including filtering logic and system stability.
